Dynamic duo doesn’t even begin to describe (our couple crush) JUCO, the pro photo collaborative team of Julia Galdo + Cody Cloud. These two are not only super talented and cute…, but they are an inspiration to style, design and just all around down to earth good vibes. California was made for Julia and Cody and vice-versa. Did we say couple crush yet already?

April brings many things… but all we cared about was this dude… our April Guest Editor William Strobeck… who we feel we’ve known for a very long time… because he reminds us of some people we all know, love, and care about. They are who they are 100% of the time and always wear the same hat. They seem like they are never not working, because what they do… is who they are… and it shows in their character and work.
Bill… tell your Mom thank you for us,… she did a fine job good sir.

How many people have Prince’s cell. phone number?…not many,…but if you are Afshin Shahidi and get to photograph, film and travel around the world with the purple one, then you probably have his royal badness’ digits on speed dial.
Afshin Shahidi grew up in Iran and lives with his wife and kids in Los Angeles. He is a physics major, dp and still photographer. He claims he’s once landed a plane, once spent a night in Panamanian jail, is a tomato connoisseur and can beat anyone in an oyster eating contest. We’re just super glad to have him as this month’s Guest Editor, and hope we get invited to tag along one night to an after hours party at you know whose house :)

Hollywood in the 1950’s, 60’s and 70’s, was documented by one of the true pioneers of photography — Bob Willoughby. He was the first ‘outside’ photographer hired by the major film studios to create images for the popular magazines at that time (LIFE, Look, Harper’s Bazzar). Bob’s images captured not only a historic era in filmmaking, but his number of technical inventions paved the way for how images are created today. KYUR8 is very pleased to have as Guest Editor this month (our one year anniversary 12th issue), his son, Christopher Willoughby - who has masterfully curated some of his father’s legendary work and also shares with us his own photographs. It was truly a pleasure to collaborate with such a classy guy who loves images as much as we do. Thank you for this tribute and dedication Christopher - we salute you.

‘Global Muse’, ‘Stylist Extraordinaire’, ‘Born of a life unmindful of conventional categories’… is just about the perfect descriptions given to our December Guest Editor LYSA COOPER,… but she prefers to keep evolving like a true warrior/soldier does. Lysa is a master in the art and power of collaboration and keeps it at the center of her craft… which is love… and we at KYUR8 have been in love with this spirit for a long time, so without further ado…

In the spirit of collaboration and futuristic energy, KYUR8 brings to you the dynamic duo and super music producers King Britt and Rucyl — also known as Saturn Never Sleeps.
King Britt and Rucyl collaborated in 2009 for two improvisational performances specifically dedicated to the music and sound of fellow Philadelphian Sun-Ra. Carrying on in the tradition of Sun Ra’s vision of process as art, they decided to continue their project, which led to a year of festival touring and the release of their debut album in July 2011 Yesterday’s Machine. Their create-in-the-moment vibe with inspirational lyrics and vocals creates a genre-pushing, electronic soul rooted sound that resonates with fans of artists like Massive Attack, Little Dragon, Sun Ra and Philip Glass.
Recently opening for TV on the Radio and Sun Ra Arkestra, music collectors and young audiences alike are taking notice of their unique approach to songs. Here they share some of their inspirations, visuals and chi. Enjoy.
